Resources
The resources provided below were used in the creation of the Big Kahuna web-course. However, they can also be used to find general science knowledge no matter the subject. The one exception is the Wordle link. It is simply a link that provides an artistic means of creating word clouds using the vocabulary terms.
Eureka - YouTube
Eureka is a compilation of science cartoons that explains physical concepts very-well at a beginner to intermediate level.
Glenn Research Center - NASA
This is a link to NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Glenn Center is named after former astronaut and U.S. Senator, John Glenn. Glenn Center, formerly NASA Lewis, specializes in aeronautics and space flight.
How Stuff Works
How Stuff Works is a great site that truly tells how just about everything works. They provide great detailed diagrams of pretty much anything you can imagine.
Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion - Science Channel
The Science Channel provides great television programming and online resources. This is just one example of the many items you can research through The Sceince Channel's website.
PhET - Online Simulations
PhET provides flash-driven online simulations for all the sciences. I am partial toward the Physcial Sciences, but the life science simulations are very helpful and fun as well.
The Physics Classroom
The Physics Classroom provides great online resources at an intermediate level. There are quizzes, simulations, tutorials, and a plethora of additional resources to help clarify conceptual misunderstandings.
Physics Games
Physics Games is more of a fun site that will test your conceptual understandings of the physical sciences without you really thinking about all the painful calculations.
Rube Goldberg
This is a fun site to explore wacky contraptions and the person that inspired them, rube Goldberg. We may embark on a Rube Goldberg-like project at some point during the year.
Visco Cognition Lab
More of an adult themed site that discusses the way we learn; however, it does provide some really useful information that you might enjoy learning about the learning process.
Wikipedia
Contrary to popular belief, Wikipedia has emerged as a valuable and reliable resource over the past few years. I would suggest you use it as a resource in your research throughout the year; however, do NOT rely on Wikipedia alone. Of course, you will not because one resource is never enough for a quality research project.
Wordle
Just a fun site to create word clouds. Explore and enjoy!
